Los clientes externos e internos tienen así mismo mayor acceso a la información, por lo tanto, las instituciones de salud se encuentran con más clientes bastante empoderados sobre la atención sanitaria. Ante este incremento de información, las organizaciones de salud públicas deben estar preparadas para la acertada toma de decisiones, fundamentada en los registros sanitarios, debidamente estructurados y analizados. Por tal razón, el objetivo de esta investigación es evidenciar la importancia que tienen los registros, la estadística y los sistemas de información dentro de las organizaciones sanitarias para la gerencia de los servicios de salud. Es un estudio de revisión documental clásica, se revisaron 50 artículos científicos publicados en revistas indexadas, disponibles en motores de búsquedas como: Google Académico, SciElo, PubMed, Dianlnet y Redalyc, con la finalidad de tener una mejor clasificación de información que aportara al desarrollo del contenido estudiado. Se identificó que los registros, los sistemas de información y la estadística aplicada a la salud constituyen una herramienta de gran valor para los gerentes de los servicios e instalaciones de salud, pues pueden utilizarla como fundamento en la toma de decisiones en la gestión sanitaria. Es pertinente crear una cultura de registros sanitarios y estadísticas de salud, que facilite la gestión de los servicios de salud.Health organizations in general, such as public health institutions, are increasingly faced with new challenges and challenges to meet the health needs of the population. Faced with this increase in information, public health organizations must be prepared for correct decision-making, based on properly structured and analyzed health records. For this reason, the objective of this research is to show the importance of records, statistics and information systems within health organizations for the management of health services. It is a classic documentary review study, 50 scientific articles published in indexed journals were reviewed, available in search engines such as: Google Scholar, SciElo, PubMed, Dianlnet and Redalyc, in order to have a better classification of information that would contribute to the development of the studied content. It was identified that records, information systems and statistics applied to health constitute a tool of great value for managers of health services and facilities, since they can use it as a tool in decision-making in health management.
